Surgery– Site visit summary

During my site visits, I presented three H&Ps that ranged from patients that came in for a variety of reasons ranging from Appendicitis to Cecal diverticulitis. The site evaluator, Osman, was very helpful and interested in the cases and gave useful advice in how to make my presentations better and stronger.

The site evaluation was very helpful as it helped me identify pertinent information to include when focusing on particular differential diagnoses versus others. Even during the review of the pharm card was very helpful in making sure that I remember the main side effects that each drug has. Osman gave some great advice such as how we can make remembering the indications for drugs much easier. He pointed out that if you know the mechanism of action for the drug you can have a general idea of what the drug can be used for primarily. I believe that the final site evaluation was very informative as well. Osman also helped make the evaluations more educational by asking about certain disease processes and drugs that are used to treat or manage them. Overall, I found the evaluations to be very educational and helpful in working on my weaknesses.
