Writing the SOAP note for the first time was quite an informative experience. Being asked to write a SOAP note without prior experience proved to be quite a feat. This is in part due to my perfectionist quality, which did not allow me to move on until I truly believed I had written a proper one. Nonetheless, I am glad that I went through that experience because the physical process of completing it by yourself helped get a better grasp on the format of a SOAP note. Additionally, this experience has helped me learn more about the process a clinician takes to develop a differential diagnosis. Developing a differential diagnosis with the information provided was still a difficult task but has enlightened me to look start out with a broad approach and then narrow down the list of differential diagnoses. Lastly, this process of writing out a SOAP note has also helped me further my knowledge of liver diseases and how to distinguish one from another.
